That’s it from OCC for 2009, roll on 2010.
As 2009 draws to a close I just want to say a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year to everyone who reads, attends and supports Open Coffee Coleraine.
The new year brings some changes to OCC with a semi structured format and a new venue. On Wednesday 20th January OCC will be at Ground in Coleraine on the usual time of 7pm to 9pm.
Many thanks for the support over the last six months. May your ventures and businesses prosper in the remainder of 2009 and into 2010.
Meeting news: November and December Open Coffee Coleraine meetings.
In a quick meeting with Starbucks today the good staff of the Coleraine branch look after us well. For November and December they can’t accommodate any Open Coffee meetings on any dates due to staff allocation. That I can cope with and Starbucks are more than happy to continue with meetings in the new year.
So, to that end there’s some decisions to make:
1. Run the November meeting somewhere else? - Do you guys want an Open Coffee in November, if so I’ll look at an alternative meeting place. My only concern is that I’ll come up against the same problems as with Starbucks.
2. Just hold off until the new year. - Another option that I don’t mind, there’s no planned Christmas party of Open Coffee types as I don’t really see the need. If everyone has enough to be getting on with then I’ll not do anything. Plus there’s these meetings already going on:
- November 4th - Open Coffee Mid Ulster
- November 5th - Open Coffee Derry
- November 18th - Open Coffee Limavady
If you want to email me with any questions and suggestions then please do so at info@opencoffeecoleraine.com
Cheers

Open Coffee Coleraine tonight is in Castlerock
Posted by jasonbell in Uncategorized on September 16th, 2009
Due to unforseen circumstances Starbucks will be unable to hold tonight’s Open Coffee Coleraine.
Special treat though is that Roger Robinson at Crusoes in Castlerock has done a big favour and has opened the doors for us. I’ll make no bones about it but the coffee has been (and is to my taste buds) regarded the best in the Province.
See you at 7pm.
Here’s a map.
Meeting: Open Coffee Mid Ulster 9th Sept.
Vea Jane’s in Magherafelt is the venue for the first Open Coffee Mid Ulster. Starts at 6:30pm. For more information have a look at their website www.ocmidulster.com
Open Coffee Limavady announced
After dipping their toes with a Coleraine meeting those nice folks at NWLLA have decided to give Open Coffee Limavady a go: excellent news!
Their first meeting is on Wednesday 23rd September at 7pm. It’s being held at their premises at Irish Green Street.
Lots of OCC activity this week.
That was the week that was….
Monday: Congratulations to @jon182x who won the iPhone 3GS at Refresh Belfast. Yours truely also won the iPhone design template as well. An excellent evening and many thanks to Chris McClelland, Phil and Andy McMillan for organising it all.
Wednesday: Open Coffee Coleraine was at Starbucks and an impressive turnout for a second event. Normally I’d expect the numbers to go down, instead they went up.
Friday: Did anyone seen Stephen Brown from AdventureTeam on the tele tonight with Gary Lineker? I hardly watch the box now but nice comments have been flying by Twitter and Facebook.
Well done!
Meeting: Final reminder for Open Coffee Coleraine tonight.
What: Open Coffee Coleraine, informal business, tech, startup and creative business networking but without the pressure and the name badges.
Where: Starbucks, Kingsgate, Coleraine.
When: Wednesday 19th August from 7pm to 9pm.
Cost: Nothing but you’ll have to pay for your own coffee/tea.
A bunch of Open Coffee dates for your diary.
The good news is that there’s a bunch of Open Coffee’s springing up at the moment, especially in the north west and if you want to get hold of me this is where I’ll more than likely be. So here’s how it’s looking.
Wednesday 19th August - Open Coffee Coleraine @ Starbucks 7pm
Thursday 27th August - Open Coffee Derry @ Waterfoot Hotel 6pm
Wednesday 9th September - Open Coffee Mid Ulster @ TBA 6.30pm
Also worth considering:
17th August - Refresh Belfast
10th October - BarCampDerry
5th November - BuildConf Belfast
There’s a lot going on which is great news.
